Listed Building Consent secured for future project
Hypostyle Architects Secures Listed Building Consent for Sensitive Restoration of Madelvic Works Buildings in Granton, Edinburgh!
We are delighted to announce that we have successfully secured Listed Building Consent (LBC) for significant alterations to the Grade B listed building at Madelvic Works Buildings in Granton, Edinburgh. This achievement underscores our expertise in navigating the complexities of heritage planning and delivering thoughtful, design-led solutions.
Our approach involved close consultation with Edinburgh Council to ensure our proposals respected and enhanced the building's unique character and setting. A detailed design statement and a robust justification for the works formed the core of our successful application, demonstrating why the changes were necessary and desirable, revitalising the building giving it a new lease of life. The proposals preserve the special architectural or historic character, integrity, appearance and setting of the listed building and comply with LDP and NPF4 heritage policies and they meet the aims of the Granton Waterfront Development Framework. The frontages of the buildings are retained and repaired, displaying its industrial past.
We are delighted to be working with Lar Housing Trust and we look forward to proceeding to the next stage of this exciting project. This success highlights our commitment to preserving historic assets while adapting them for sustainable, modern use.
