Hypostyle provided architectural services for a full refurbishment of the visitor centre within The Singleton of Glen Ord Distillery in Muir of Ord. Works included extensive remodelling of the internal layout, with the aim of improving accessibility and creating an immersive experience. Minor alterations were also proposed to the external fabric of the building to facilitate the visitor centre improvements. Specifically, a new visitor entrance was created on the East elevation of the building to ensure that the entrance is visible on the approach from the car park.

The architecture for the new entrance reflects the Distillery’s commitment to delivering a quality visitor experience and is carefully detailed in copper in reference to the existing copper stills. The result is a contemporary intervention which complements the existing warehouse building.

In addition to the new entrance, some minor upgrades were carried out to window openings and fabric repairs. The external envelope and appearance of the warehouse building largely remains as it was, retaining the iconic appearance.
